The production of SAR-CoV-2 spike protein or its subunits in BEV. Infected insect cells produce wild-type or mutated spike protein, or RBD. The wild-type spike protein is cleaved by furin protease but not the mutated protein. All the proteins produced by the insect cell will be glycosylated. The recombinant proteins are used for diagnostic and therapeutic studies such as vaccines, therapeutic proteins, and antibody development
